Your life is your art, as well as the thing you call your art.

"Try not to try too hard.  It's just a lovely ride"

James Taylor, singer/songwriter

Welcome to Holly Rabbitat,  a peaceful website where you'll find easy-going, sometimes curious art and writings inspired by my journey and passion for living a simple life.

As far back as I can remember, my life's aim has been  to "keep it real" and to live simply--to respect the plain and ordinary, and to avoid all merry-go-rounds, no matter how beautiful they may look.

One thing I have learned during all those years is that simple living isn't easy.  In fact, it gets harder every day, as the world around me speeds up and becomes more  complex.  All the more reason to join me here where we can remind ourselves of what is good and true.

My family and I live in a quiet home in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the southern USA.  We call it Rabbit Hill.  My name is Sandie, but I'm often called the head rabbit.  I look to the things of running our home, and when time permits I am an artist and writer.

My medium is usually pen and ink, watercolor, colored pencils, and digital photography, inspired by what I call the "simples" of our home and lives.

I would be pleased to have your company as together we learn to "keep it real."

Greetings!

No flash.  No noise.  No agenda.

This is just between you and me.

Enjoy the ride. . .

Sandie,

aka The Head Rabbit

Why the name Holly Rabbitat?

"Holly Rabbitat" is  a word blend of where we live--a suburb called Holly Springs--and the nickname my family has given me--the head rabbit.

"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands..."

Simple Living

Afternoon On the Porch

Afternoon On the Porch

Oswald Chambers said "we refuse to be simple enough."  J. R. R. Tolkein said "it is no small thing to celebrate a simple life."

Simple living is not necessarily about chickens,  nor about wearing aprons or even growing pear trees, although those things can be part of it.

It's about time mostly and what we do with it in our over-saturated lives.

To make it easier, I have arranged my writings and art seasonally, the seasons being for me the most pleasing way to bring order to my thoughts and work.
